What torque specs on 7/16 head bolts

Post by mike0914nascar »

I'm about to put a 4.0 head on my 82 258.It has 7/16 head bolts which are torqued to 85 lbs. However the 4.0 head gasket and head are torqued 110 lbs on 1/2 inch bolts. So will there be a head gasket failure torquing at 85 lbs.using the 7/16 head bolts? Thanks!!

My Victor torque speck book calls for 85ftlbs on the last of the 258's, I wouldn't think the head gasket would fail, you need to torque a 1/2" bolt more to get the same stretch out of it, fasteners have a specific stretch at where they work the best.
You can get more power out of ANY engine!!!
