performance torque convertor aw4?
Hello, just talking things over with my engine builder and he thinks that the stock torque convertor should be replaced with a more performance model. I am in the procees of building a 4.6 short rod engine.
The question I have on this is I am not doing any type of racing , just a dd for now and eventually in the future some light trail wheeling, is this a good idea or will the stock convertor suit better for my needs? I apprecite any and all feedback on this .

Sounds like a blanket statement he is making. Ask him what the stock stall speed is first. Its already pretty high. Its already going to stall higher due to the increased torque from the engine.

I was thinking that was the case, just was trying to get a few other opinions to see what the general consensus was. My builder is used to building race setups with small block chevys where that is a common thing.

Re: performance torque convertor aw4?
Kinda new here, but stall can easily be built into the converter by any one who rebuilds them. I had one made for 250 and stalls @ at least 2200 rpms( h range ) and can hold onto peddel in low range to over 2500 rpms.(mud drag racing mode) Leaving the line in 2nd gear. Which leads me to another obvious unknown tech tip, am I the only one running a paddle shifter on the steering wheel?
